Mobile devices have become ubiquitous in the world of business and yet, many small business owners are just starting to uncover the many ways mobile can help their business become more efficient, customer-focused and relevant.

There are thousands of mobile apps geared to small businesses. We asked business owners what’s the best mobile app for their business in terms of helping them and their employees. Here’s how they responded:

Online scheduling

I started using Booksy a couple of years ago to help manage my schedule and clients, and I now use its mobile app multiple times daily—whether to adjust my schedule from wherever I happen to be or track my appointments in real-time. The app lets clients see my availability and schedule appointments whenever they want, and the app stores clients’ contact information so I can quickly reach out to them with just a few taps. The client profiles in the app also quickly show me any private notes about the client and their dog and how many lessons they have already completed. Booksy has dramatically helped me grow the business and take on more clients.

Password management

What mobile app is most useful to my business? This one is easy: 1Password! A password management app is crucial for business owners and team members. We use this app dozens of times a day.

Payments—and more

I own two businesses: a craft beer tour company and a removal services company. The most important mobile app for me—which I use extensively for both of my businesses—is Square. The mobile payments app allows me to accept payments from customers anywhere. But Square also offers a full suite of other apps for other purposes, including scheduling appointments, invoicing and payroll. Having all of these resources in one centralized location offers convenience and streamlines my operations.

Cloud document storage and sharing

Dropbox is my favorite mobile app—hands down. I like to work both at my shop and at home, so having a cloud storage tool that lets me easily access my files from anywhere has changed my life. I store all my business files and photos on Dropbox so that I can access them via my mobile device for emails or social media postings.  I also share files with my accountant via Dropbox so I never have to set foot in his office. I can load files for approval to clients and send only that link to the person who needs to review it without worrying they see other files. It’s been invaluable.

Workflow management

We use Monday.com for a lot of our productivity and project management tasks, and I love their mobile app as an easy dashboard for what’s going on, what I have to focus on next and which teams need my attention. It really functions as my on-the-go to-do list during the day.

Team communications

One mobile app that has helped my business is WhatsApp Business. We love the app because it is a very convenient way to communicate and stay connected and has a very simple mobile interface. I have a WhatsApp group for every department of my organization where we make announcements or give updates on our work progress.
